In some specialist stores, such as mobile phone stores, sales assistants are often expected to have specialist knowledge of the product. They may also have tasks which are specific to the type of product, such as promoting phone accessories or additional services like insurance.
In smaller independent shops, their tasks will be more varied, and may include arranging window displays and receiving stock deliveries.
